Built for rooms that already have a strong sofa, a bold wall or a lot of art — these rugs step back so everything else looks deliberate. The black and white pieces are the easiest to live with for years; the pink and terracotta ones warm up a room that has gone too grey.

All machine washable with a non-slip backing and a 1cm low pile, available from 2x3 to 8x10.

Choose by floor, not by trend: if the room already has three textures, take the distressed black and white. If it is all neutral, take terracotta or blush to give the eye something to land on.
