How Long Does a Custom Canvas Take to Arrive?

The Short Answer
Plan on 5 to 8 business days from the day you order to the day your canvas lands on your doorstep. That window splits into two chunks: about 2 to 4 days of printing and prep, then another 2 to 4 days in transit. Shipping inside the US is free on every order, whether you pick a $39 print of a Northern Cardinal from our library of 1,351 bird illustrations or a $129 large-format piece built from your own backyard photo.
Production Time: 2 to 4 Business Days
Nothing here sits in a warehouse waiting for a buyer. Each canvas is printed to order, which is why production takes a few days before anything even gets boxed up.
Here is what happens in that window. First, color matching. If you uploaded your own photo of a Painted Bunting, we tune the file so the greens and blues actually look the way the bird did, not washed out or muddy. Then the print goes down on canvas. After that, the print gets stretched by hand over a wooden frame, which is what "gallery wrap" means if you see that term on product pages. It simply refers to the canvas wrapping around the sides of the stretcher bars instead of being framed behind glass. Finally, someone inspects the finished piece before it leaves.
We could cut corners and ship faster. We don't. A reprint costs everybody more time than a little patience does, so the check step stays in.
Shipping Time: 2 to 4 Business Days After That
Once production wraps, the canvas goes out and you get a tracking number the same day it ships. No chasing us for updates. Transit inside the US runs 2 to 4 business days.
One note on size. Bigger canvases, like a 24x36, can add roughly a day to production because stretching and drying a large format simply takes longer. So if you ordered a big one for over the fireplace, lean toward the 8-day end of the range instead of the 5-day end.
Holiday Timing: Order Early
November and December slow everything down. More orders hit the queue, and print times stretch past the usual 2 to 4 days.
The rule we give everyone: if a canvas is a gift, place the order at least 10 days before you need it in hand. That buffer absorbs both the seasonal slowdown and any carrier delays around peak shipping weeks. A bird lover on your list will be just as thrilled with a Scarlet Tanager canvas on December 22 as on December 20, but only one of those dates leaves you breathing room.
Got a Hard Deadline? Email First
Sometimes you don't have flexibility. Maybe the canvas is a retirement gift for a birding club member and the party is locked in on a specific date.
In that case, email us before you place the order, not after. Production runs first-come, first-served, so the earlier you ask, the better your odds that we can slide your piece up the queue. We can often prioritize an order, but we can't work magic on a piece that's already mid-print behind twenty others. Asking early is the whole game.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long until my canvas actually ships?
Most orders leave our production queue within a few business days of final approval. Add 2 to 4 business days of transit after that, and you've got your full timeline.
Can I rush my order?
Sometimes, yes. Email us and we'll check where production timing stands right now. The sooner you reach out, the more likely we can move your canvas up the line before it's already committed.
